Group says toxic algae could return

Lady Bird Lake and the Austin skyline

Some expect to see more toxic algae blooms in Austin annually. Environment Texas’ Anna Ferral-Sherman says on average cities deal with a week’s worth of blooms and that is predicted to build to a month’s worth by 2090. So she is advocating the use of nature-based infrastructure to combat it, and it seems Austin leaders agree.

She says that would make the city greener, and help prevent flooding, blooms and more.
