Lakeway Officially Suspends Deer Trapping Program

The Lakeway City Council has unanimously voted to accept the recommendation of the Wildlife Advisory Committee to suspend its years-long deer trapping program.

For the next year, the city will work on figuring out another solution to managing the deer population.  A plan will be submitted after several community input meetings.

Critics of suspending the plan say they fear the decision could lead to an explosion of new deer in the city, leading potentially to an uptick in car crashes or property damage.
