A group of church leaders is still pursuing a lawsuit against Austin, hoping for an exemption to the non-discrimination ordinance. Citing the Bible as their guide, the U.S. Pastors Council wants the right to hire based on sexual orientation. Texas employment law expert Holt Lackey says this could have ripple effects across Texas because other cities have similar ordinances.
He expects this to be a hot topic when the legislature gets back to work in January.
