Leander ISD officials are wondering what more they can do

With the school finance bill now law, Leander ISD officials are looking at what more can be done now that Governor Greg Abbott has signed into law school finance reforms.

LISD’s Corey Ryan said the district is breathing easier as they’ve been considering pay raises or adding school programs. Ryan said the district’s also been looking to make work easier on teachers and better for students. Ryan said they’ve been thinking about giving out a 4{2a63e07d84fe12ceff3a79b3b7d16ceb8565bd2470b26c53e2419132d99be4c6} raise, and the extra funds means more could be done.

By Leander ISD estimates, the district could receive 13-million more dollars in state funding.

Ryan said they’ve been thinking about adding more school resource officers in the district Middle Schools, noting it would cost about 1.2 million to do. They also are looking at decreasing class sizes.
