Local political leaders condemn statements made by Speaker Bonnen and Lubbock Rep. Burrows

lone elected Republican in Travis County is not happy with a couple state leaders over remarks bashing city and county governments.

Republicans Dennis Bonnen the House Speaker and Lubbock Rep. Dustin Burrows said in a secretly taped meeting with Michael Quinn Sullivan of Empower Texans that they wanted to hurt local governments in the last session and intend to do more damage next session. 

Travis County Commissioner Daugherty, the only Austin elected Republican was offended, especially considering he met with Burrows personally during the last session, and  this incident is not good for the Republican Party and wants both Bonnen and Burrows to apologize for their remarks.

In the taped meeting with the Empower Texans CEO Michael Quinn Sullivan, the two said they hoped the next session would be even worse for cities and counties.
