Opioids no long first pain choice

Technology is replacing opioids in the treatment of chronic pain.  
 

"Opiates do have a place in surgery, anesthesia,  postoperative pain, cancer pain and certain chronic pain conditions, but they're not the first line of defense in pain control."

Dr. Vic Mahindru with Pain Specialists of Austin said because of the growing opioid crisis, doctors are careful not to go for them as the first line of pain defense for most chronic pain.
