Austin’s Parks Department is concerned about the rapid rise in the number of people who visit Barton Springs each year. By next year, officials estimate more than 1-million people will take a dip in the water, impacting water quality and staffing levels. The department wants to devise a plan to avoid a similar issue at Hamilton Pool in which Travis County was forced to impose a reservation system to limit the number of swimmers.
