Resignation demanded of AISD school board president Kendall Pace

Austin Teachers Union demands AISD board president resign over controversial texts

Education Austin is demanding the immediate resignation of AISD board president Kendall Pace after private texts she sent to board member Julie Cowan were made public.  Education Austin President Ken Zarifis who says Pace is unfit to serve on the board after sending the messages referring to community members trying to secure more funding for low-performing schools as "crazy ignorant" and "poverty pimps."

Pace does not deny making the comments and admits they were made out of frustration, adding that she would choose her words differently if she could do it over again.  She also already has plans to resign by next month but Zarifis is demanding she step down effective today.
