Round Rock ISD unsure about forming its own police department

The Round Rock Police Department is among the agencies that has helped provide security on Round Rock campuses, but as Chief of Schools and innovation Danny Presley points out, the days are numbered for that assistance Round Rock PD has given.

The Round Rock school board has voted to revise an ordinance aimed at the creation of a dedicated police department within the district itself.

But, recognizing that there's still a whole lot of input left to be given, including from a task force, the school board has amended their plan and has called for a extension of the research into a new district police department.

A task force is still weighing multiple options and a final report will be delivered to the school board in April.
