Suspicious package investigated at FedEx near ABIA

Authorities in Austin are checking out what could be another bomb at a FedEx facility near the Austin Bergstrom Airport.

APD officer Destiny Winston says they got the call just after 9AM this morning. "our officers arrived on scene, they did locate a suspicious package. Due to this they called our bomb squad for assistance." This was after a package exploded on a conveyor belt at a Schertz FedEx facility overnight. Winston says "As of right now we don't have any link to say that this is related to the San Antonio incident." Earlier, San Antonio Police Chief William McManus  had said there were two suspicious packages at the Schertz facility but later retracted that, saying he misspoke.

Meanwhile Winston says the scene at the FedEx Ground Delivery Facility on McKinney Falls Parkway remains an active investigation scene. "Any type of package or suspicious package call that we get right now at the department, due to past events, we are taking very seriously. We are going to investigate to our full ability and that's why we have everyone out here right now. Because we want to make sure that the community is safe."
