While Austin tries to grapple with affordability, the US Tariff and trade war is adding to home costs.
The US trade and tariff war with China will hit your pocketbook. Economist Dr. Ray Perryman said tariffs on commodities have already raised the cost of home construction by $6,000, while the steel and aluminum tariff’s added the cost of building vehicles in San Antonio and Dallas by about $1500
Austin’s manufacturing industry could see some rough time ahead as, the US has levied tariffs on Chinese electronics and computer parts. Economist Dr. Ray Perryman explained while this could mean a boost for some American source part makers most manufacturers will end up paying more for components decreasing output and therefore becoming less competitive on the global stage.
Perryman says when a tariff is imposed, its the consumer that pays.
