A UT Doctor is awarded for her work in making a pen that can tell what is cancer and what isn’t, by touch.
Dr. Livia Eberlin was named a McArthur Fellow for the MasSpec Pen. Eberlin says it can diagnose what tissue is cancerous and what is normal, making surgeons jobs easier.
Along with the fellowship Eberlin will see more than a half million dollars in grant funds to do with what she will. The MacArthur Foundation hopes it will spur on further innovation.
