A family discovers the death of their son in a rollover car crash was preceded by off-campus hazing by a University of Texas spirit group. Universty officials report 20-year-old Nicholas Cumberland was a passenger inthat rollover crash and later died. The Daily Texan reported it happened after an all-day initiation by the Texas Cowboys, the group that fires Smokey The Cannon at UT Football games.  The family accused the Cowboys of not letting pledges sleep after the prolonged initiation and having them drive over two hours back to Austin. The University said it was investigating. The Texas Cowboys were temporarily disbanded in 1995 after a 19-year-old drowned after an initiation rite.
