Abbott to Face Valdez in Debate

Governor Greg Abbott Wednesday announced he has accepted an invitation from Nexstar Media Group for a statewide debate against the Democrat nominee for Governor. The invitation stipulates the debate will take place on September 28th, 2018 from 7 – 8 p.m., in Austin, Texas at a location to be determined. The debate will be broadcast statewide on television and online, and will be carried on the twelve television stations Nexstar Media Group owns and operates across Texas, in addition to partner stations in Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio.

“A statewide debate that allows voters to hear directly from candidates on what they believe is essential to the democratic process, and Governor Abbott looks forward to this opportunity to share his vision for the future of Texas,” said campaign spokesman Alejandro Treviño. “We look forward to our opponent accepting this invitation to discuss the critical issues on the minds of Texans, and we thank Nexstar Media Group for their generous offer to host this debate.”
