Local Chinese smartphone maker has been indicted

Huawei, whose US headquarters are in Plano has been indicted for stealing trade secrets and for doing business with iran.

The charges were filed in New York, based on a civil lawsuit on the west coast. Former Dallas US Attorney Richard Roper said it’s not unusual for civil lawsuits to catch the attention of federal prosecutors.

The company could be blocked from doing business in the US if convicted.

Huawei had no one available for comment.
