Crash claims life of DPS Trooper in Temple

A Department of Public Safety veteran loses his life after his patrol car was struck during a traffic stop.

63-year-old DPS Trooper Thomas Nipper was stopped on the shoulder of I-35 in Temple Saturday when a pickup truck hit his car from behind. Nipper was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries. Nipper had been on the force for 33 years. He leaves behind a wife and three children.
