Make Way for Traffic Emergencies, It's The Law

Austin police are making a holiday push to remind drivers about the Move Over law. 

As more people begin travelling for the holidays, Austin police want to remind you that it's the law to try and move over a lane when you come upon an emergency vehicle on the side of the road. Police detective Patrick Oborski says the law was passed in 2013, but many people still don't know about it. 

Regardless of the traffic incident, if you see one on the side of the road you must vacate your lane. If you're unable to safely do so, you're required to drive at least 20MPH under the speed limit by law.
