Mayor Steve Adler, standing shoulder to shoulder with mayors across America, says he no longer will stand by and watch as illegal immigrant families are punished for coming across the border seeking a better life, which is why he says the U.S. Conference of Mayors has banded together to demand real change. He calls the current immigration policies wrong, immoral, and unjust.  The group of mayors is demanding to see the inside of the Tornillio immigrant facility, but Adler does not expect to be allowed inside.

He says ultimately this is about the immigrant children, which he has vowed to protect in his fight to change border policies.
