National Guard gets another year of funding for Texas border security

Those National Guardsmen on the Texas border are not going anywhere:

Funding for "Operation Guardian Support" was supposed to run out this week, but the federal government extended the guard's presence on the border until September 2019, and here's why; the guard's presence led to tens of thousands illegal immigrant arrests and the seizure of 16-thousand pounds of illegal drugs. Texas border congressman Will Hurd said that's proof that boots on the ground that works, not a wall and noted that the US Border Patrol has thousands of open positions.

Cedar Park State Representative Tony Dale says whatever the solution may be, there needs to be more security because of the 12-thousand people stopped in the past two weeks, 9000 were from other countries than Mexico.
