SBOE committee recommends Texas teachers not refer defenders of the Alamo as 'heroes.'

The committee of the elected state board of education said 'hero' is a 'value charged word.' the committee also recommends removing study of the travis 'victory or death' letter from Texas history curriculum. Not surprisingly, this is not going over well.

Governor Abbott and land commissioner bush both refer to it as 'politically correct nonsense' and are calling on Texans to speak out against the proposal, which is up for a vote in November.
