Texas coach accused of sex assault of cheerleader

A 40-year-old cheerleading coach at a suburban Houston facility has been charged with sexually assaulting one of his students.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office says in a statement released Friday that the girl made accusations in October against Devincent Phillips. The statement says the girl accused Phillips of sexually assaulting her on three occasions while she was a student at Xcel Athletics in Katy, a suburb of Houston.

The sheriff's office says Phillips was arrested Thursday at the facility. He has been charged with sexually assaulting a child. It remains unclear whether Phillips has an attorney.

The statement says detectives believe there could be more victims.
