Abbott wins Governor’s Race

Governor Greg Abbott wins his re-election and will spend another 4-years in the Governor’s mansion. The associated Press reports Abbott has 54% of the vote while former Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez holds a distant 45%.  Gov. Abbot held a “Texas-Sized Victory Party,” at the Brazos Hall in Downtown Austin.

Lt. Governor Dan Patrick wins re-election

Patickheld the majority ofearly votes with more than 50% while his democratic challenger Mike Collier trailed by three. But by the night's end, Patrick broke away with a 4.5% spread. 

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton Hold onto his seat

Incumbent Ken Paxton fended off Austin area lawyer Justin Nelson. Paxton helld more than 50% of the early votes and that lead increased to 51% at the end of the day. This despite Paxton's legal troubles dealing with securities fraud charges.
