Austin Community College District is gearing up for one of its strongest fall enrollments in recent history. Early data shows fall 2025 enrollment is up approximately 15% compared to last year—an increase of more than 4,000 students.
To meet this growing demand, the College plans to offer an additional 500 course sections, totaling 30,000 more semester credit hours this fall. To help staff these new sections, ACC will host a special Adjunct Faculty Hiring Fair.

“This is one of the most encouraging signs we could hope for. Enrollment is up. Persistence is up. ACC students are staying in school and finishing what they started. That means more classes, more sections, and more great instructors are needed,” says Dr. Beth Knight, ACC Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Programs. “In a time when higher education is being questioned, students are choosing ACC—and they’re choosing to stay. That speaks volumes about the value they see in the work we do.”
The College encourages appropriately credentialed workers, current eligible employees interested in teaching, faculty from area colleges and universities, and professionals with experience in in-demand fields to attend. The greatest need is in high-demand, core curriculum courses.
For students, a great instructor can be the difference between giving up and moving forward.
“My microbiology class was my last course before applying for the nursing program, and I was starting to become discouraged as the class was difficult and I needed a good grade. Instead of giving up like I wanted to, I talked to my professor, Dr. Barrett, and I explained to her how hard I’ve been working and how badly I wanted to be in the program. She gave me the words I needed to push myself to finish the course strong. In that moment, I knew that if I continued to have faith in myself, there was no mountain too high,” says recent ACC Nursing graduate Gabriella Brown.
