The Texas Department of Transportation plans to open the newly constructed Westlake Drive bridge at Loop 360 as early as 7 p.m. on Friday, August 1, weather permitting.
The new bridge is part of the Loop 360 at Westlake Drive/Cedar Street project, which will remove traffic signals from the mainlanes of Loop 360 by constructing bridges at both intersections. Opening of the new bridge will restore east/west connectivity on Westlake Drive.
Loop 360 has severe traffic congestion, causing both mobility and safety concerns. More than two million people live in the Austin area today, and that number is expected to double by 2040.
