A Bastrop Police officer is accused of egregiously defrauding an elderly woman.
Texas Rangers are investigating Officer Patrick Amy. The Statesman reports Amy used power of attorney to take control of an 80-year-old woman’s finances, put her in a nursing home and took over her home and cars, while selling off her furniture and heirlooms. He also allegedly used her money to pay off a lien on his own home. Amy has since returned cars and the home after lawyers for the victim got involved. Amy still on active duty and cooperating with the investigation.
