State Representative Ron Reynolds has filed a bill to raise Texas’ minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $15 an hour. The Houston democrat calls it a “sensible” way to close the economic gap, as well as to provide a pathway for people who make minimum wage to climb out of poverty.
He said the biggest pushback has come from small business owners who say $15 is too cost-prohibitive. Reynolds also said $15 an hour will actually bolster the workforce by reducing employee turnover.
