Taylor police are investigating the death of a man, whose body was found this morning in Murphy Park. He is identified as Donald Hazelwood, 61, of Silver City North Carolina. Police say he had obvious head trauma, but the exact cause of death will be determined by an autopsy.

A man found dead in Murphy Park this morning has led to an investigation by Taylor Police. At 8:49 a.m., the deceased man was located in Murphy Park by City Parks and Recreation Department employees, who then notified the police department. The deceased man, possibly in his sixties, was located next to a vehicle at a table in the park, and officers observed trauma to the head. The deceased has not been positively identified.
Assisting Taylor Detectives in this case are the Williamson County Crime Scene Unit, and the Texas Rangers. An autopsy will be conducted to attempt to determine the cause of death. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Sgt. Sam Brister at (512) 352-5551.
