In the wake of the Santa Fe High School shooting, State Senator Larry Taylor’s omnibus bill includes 5 recommendations from the Senate School Safety report and 11 from the Governor Abbott’s School Safety Action Plan.
His plan calls for TEA commissioners to adopt building standards to provide a secure and safe environment for our students, among others.
The bill also aims to make it easier to identify troubled students by requiring school districts to establish a threat assessment team and a school safety committee.
The bill is now headed to the State House.
