The Austin Fire Department is mourning the loss of Devon Coney, a cadet in the training academy as well as a four-year civilian employee with the department.
According to AFD, on Monday, June 25, at 7:30 a.m., Coney suffered an unknown medical emergency. Staff immediately started treatment and the Coney was transported by Austin/Travis County EMS to South Austin Medical Center. On Tuesday, AFD officials learned of his passing.
The Travis County Medical Examiner is conducting an autopsy and his cause of death is not yet known.
