Austin ISD’s school board was inundated with parents both for and against the proposed sex ed program. Former AISD Teacher Carol Oyella stands against the program for its content and role playing about sex acts and situations.
During the district’s public comment period program advocates like parent Susan Kerns countered conservative parents who say the proposed program introduces sex acts to youths too soon.
Advocates for the program say some of its detractors don’t even live in the district and are playing politics.
School officials hope to have a full plan ready for the school board’s approval by October.
