An Austin firm will build the new State Bullion Depository in Leander.

The State Comptrollers office made the announcement late yesterday. Kevin Lyons with the Comptrollers office says the group that’s going to operate the facility, Lone Star Tangible Assets, chose Austin-based MHT Constructors, who Lyons says is one of the region’s premier design/build contractors. “They’ve got the kind of expertise and experience needed to build this depository to keep Texans’ gold and precious metals secure.” Lyons say LSTA were confident MHT could handle the unique demands of the project. “This facility is going to include space for highly secure precious metal storage. It’s going to incorporate the latest technology in security systems, including advanced perimeter defense, high-definition security cameras.”

Construction on the multi-acre site could begin as early as next week.
