Austin ISD is still considering school closures

As it tries to find solutions to their multi million dollar budget shortfall. Spectrum news reports AISD officials talked about what could replace shut down school schools at a recent community meeting. Affordable housing is a possibility, Austin’s housing finance corporation director Rosie Truelove.

At a recent community meeting Neighbors threw out some of their own ideas, where affordable housing again popped up, with some believing  it could help bring back families who’ve been run out by a growing cost of living.

If a school is closed, they say it could be replaced by another community benefit.

Other city officials believe the thoughts of the individual neighborhoods surrounding those schools need to be brought into the fold.
