Bill would provide more money for parks

Park land
Texas has a sporting goods sales tax that’s supposed to benefit state and local parks as well as the Historical Commission. But over the last 25 years, the state has taken a lot of that money to balance the budget. Travis County’s Deece Eckstein says a bill and constitutional amendment has been filed to protect that parks revenue which would trickle down to the county.

He estimates Travis County parks have lost a billion dollars from the state raiding the sporting goods tax.
