The group, which calls itself ‘Leave Manchaca Alone’ said today that the city council basically went rogue when it decided to change Manchaca’s name to “Menchaca” last month. The nine businesses involved in the filing say they were never contacted about this change, and they believe there are others as well.
Along with that, the group said this change will be financially disruptive due to the costs to change signs, marquees, stationary, uniforms, online presence, email accounts, vendor tasks, and branding. The group claims the cost could be in the thousands. So, the lawsuit seeks an injunction on this name change, which take effect on Thursday.
