City of Austin is only partly to blame for the annual rise in your cost of living

Each time one of the five taxing entities chooses to increase spending, that contributes to your property tax bill.  Even though she voted for Austin’s new budget tacking on $200-million more than last year, council member Ora Houston said Austin needs to stop believing it has the only share of the pie.

And your cost of living is impacted.  Along with the city, school district, and ACC, that cost is driven up with the annual increases in spending from Travis or Williamson County along with the hospital district.
