City of Austin looks to make childcare more accessible

The City of Austin wants to remove some of the barriers parents face in finding quality childcare centers, as well as barriers that prevent owners from starting new facilities.  Mayor Steve Adler said this would also help with the affordability crisis.

City manager Spencer Cronk will be tasked with looking at permitting and fee structures to make opening a daycare easier.  A change in zoning restrictions could also allow for centers to open in parts of Austin that currently don’t have any.
