Cost cutting college initiatives like dual credit programs are on the rise in Texas

The value of State programs designed to keep college costs down are under the microscope at the State Capitol. While the dual credit program is growing many are still questioning its value.

Dual Credits allow high school students to take college courses and get both high school and college credit.  The TEA’s Lilly Lox said early reports are solid.  One hope was to attract kids from low income families and rural areas, as for how well the program is working statewide, Lox said they need to conduct a comprehensive survey to find out.
