The City’s Erica Leak said they are studying rents, construction costs and more to determine if the fees need to be changed. Through the program, she says developers are allowed to build bigger and taller if they build or pay through fees for things that would benefit the community, like affordable housing.
But without the fees and other funds, the city would be spending more than 150-thousand dollars per home.
