Travis County Commissioners once again talking about merging the District Attorney’s Office with the County Attorney’s office in an effort to save money and be more efficient.
But it’s not as easy as all that. There are political and practical considerations plus the state legislature has to approve it. Commissioner Brigid Shea was concerned about more than cost and time savings.
Commissioners voted to take up merging felony and misdemeanor prosecutions in the DA’s office and let the County Attorney handle the civil side.
