A new report highlights a growing trend of injuries related to dockless scooters:
Austin has seen its share of people getting hurt on scooters, although until last week there were no deaths. There is now one on the books — an exchange student at UT riding the wrong way on the I-35 service road.
Dr. Christopher Zybiel with Dell Seton Medical Center says injured riders are becoming extremely common with about 11 injuries coming into his hospital a day.
A new Consumer Report investigation shows there have been at least 1500 injuries nationwide just from Lime and Bird scooters, and likely more since many hospitals still don’t track those injuries.
