As the Round Rock school district considers a bond election this fall, school security is still high on the minds of parents and teachers. Amber Feller with the bond subcommittee said if a bond package is approved by voters, it would need to include money to facilitate communication during emergencies. It could be as high as $587-million, including a new high school and upgrades to both Westwood and McNeil High Schools. But Feller said a lot needs to be spent on security upgrades, including panic buttons and cameras for all portable buildings. Also secure front entrances to administrative offices, as well as new PA systems to better communicate with students in the event of an emergency.
Portables would be included with new cameras, panic buttons, and glass to see who is outside.
