Students could get a free ride

Capital Metro may decide to permanently allow students from kindergarten through 12th Grade to ride for free.  But CEO Randy Clarke says it would lead to a loss of as much as $300,000 a year in revenue, so he wants the Austin City Council to find a way to help fill that hole.
Clarke thinks bus stop advertising could help counter the losses, but Austin’s advertising ordinance places strict rules on signage in public right-of-ways.
