The Austin-area's population growth is beginning to expand outward

At one point, about 100 people a day were moving directly into Austin, but that number has slowed a bit over the years, and now the estimates are closer to 35 people per day.  Travis County is also seeing a decline, according to city demographer Lila Valencia, who tells CBS Austin the real growth is in both Hays and Williamson Counties.

Each is seeing roughly 120 new people per day, compared to only 60 in Travis County.  In the City of Kyle, for example, population was only 5000 at the turn of the century.  Now, more than 43,000 people call it home.
