The Austin Police Association issues warning about "progressive prosecution"

The Austin City Council has already told police they should not arrest people for low-level offenses.  But the union fears they may be handcuffed even more by the county, and the fear is based on a Boston prosecutor who has outlined 15 offenses she won’t prosecute.  The union is sounding the alarm, but Chaz Moore with the Austin Justice Coalition tells Spectrum News he doesn’t understand their concern.

The police union says it believes the county is already under intense pressure by activists to limit prosecutions for things like trespassing, burglary, larceny, and shoplifting.
