UT expanding telemedicine

The University of Texas is expanding its Virtual Health Network in an effort to increase quality healthcare statewide.
UT is using telemedicine, a specialized video conferencing which lets providers assess and treat patients without being in the room or even city. Doctor Alexander Vo says they’ve tested the network successfully at 8 of their health-related campuses. He says three of the campuses already have started work refining the system.

UT has been pioneering telemedicine for 20 years, treating prison inmates, cruise ship passengers, Antarctic researchers, and rural patients.
