State Representative Eddie Rodriguez will try again to give a tax break to urban farms like those in Austin. Rodriguez said urban farms are real working farms but are too small to take advantage of what’s called Ag Valuation.
For example, Rodriguez said Travis County’s Ag Valuation starts at ten thousand acres, which is not possible in an urban setting.
Rodriguez also said urban farms in Austin pay about ten or fifteen thousand dollars more in taxes than they would if his bill passes.
