One state representative has filed a bill that would make it illegal for an employer to ask about a person’s criminal history, before making a job offer. Derek Cohen is the Director of the group, The right on Crime, and calls it well meaning but misguided.
Cohen said where regulations like this pop up, the people that its supposed to help end up worse off. He would prefer the legislature let businesses handle it on their own.
