Will Texas lose influence now that Senator John Cornyn’s term as the Senate Majority Whip is over?
Cornyn’s step down from number two in the Senate does mean a loss in influence according to Rice University Political Scientist Mark Jones. But he said Cornyn’s tenure should make up for that.
Term limits in the Senate resulted in Cornyn being replaced by South Dakota Senator John Thune. Cornyn actually nominated Thune to be his replacement.
