As coastal residents in Virginia, Maryland and the Carolinas start heading away from the approaching Hurricane, a handful of Austin Energy line crews are going the other way. The Utilities Jennifer Herber said they will be there to help during the recovery effort.
Herber said they have sent staffers across the country in response to hurricanes before, most recently with Harvey throughout Texas, and Maria in Puerto Rico.
This time they only sent five crews away since the Austin area is looking at a few storms as well.
