City wants you to boil all drinking water and try to use less water

If you are on City of Austin water, don’t drink it until you boil it.  Austin water issued a boil water notice for ALL Austin Water customers this morning. The city says the historic flooding flowing into the water supply lakes contain high levels of silt and that is impacting water treatment standards. The utility says water for drinking, cooking and ice should be boiled before being consumed until further notice.

That silt is wreaking havoc with the water filtration systems at the cities three water treatment plants. That’s why there’s a slight chance something will get through the system and that the city is asking for conservation, because water production is way down.
